H. Barber & Sons, Inc. first explored the prospects of building beach cleaning machines in the early 1960's. We have improved on and learned from our experience for over thirty years. As is true with any business, it took many years to learn which design works best,
what the customer needs and how best to service those needs. Our product, the Barber
SURF RAKE, is the highest quality, most efficient beach cleaning equipment available. With
its ability to clean a variety of beach conditions, the SURF RAKE has earned H. Barber &
Sons the distinction of being the leader in beach cleaning technology and the largest
manufacturer of beach cleaners in the world.
As H. Barber & Sons continued to grow, expansion into the Litter Picker and TURF RAKE fields was a natural progression.
We found that the SURF RAKE was as effective on soil as it was on sand, thus the TURF RAKE was born. The TURF RAKE
is essentially the same machine as the SURF RAKE, simply with a different application. The Barber Litter Picker utilizes the
same automated picking principle as the beachcleaner, but is adapted to remove debris from the side of the highway. Most
recently, we have begun to market the SAND MAN walk-behind sand cleaner. Over the years we have found that there are
many customers who have a need for sand cleaning equipment, but the area to be cleaned is not large enough to justify the
purchase of a SURF RAKE. We have also learned that there are many SURF RAKE users who could benefit from a smaller
machine, such as the SAND MAN, for light cleaning and cleanings in tight spaces.
